President's Column

I do not have to tell you how excited I am about the progress our Association has made over the last three years. We are making things happen.
This newsletter is just a small step but its importance is huge. Our lines of communication have been nonexistent so our members have no idea whether our organization is dead or alive. I want to assure you that we are very much alive.
The inaugural issue of ACE Magazine will be sent to members around the end of August. This first issue will be dedicated to our fallen officers and their dependents. We will also feature ACEOA members' involvement in Hurricane Katrina Relief.
Remember that our website is up and running again, thanks to Lt. Steve Pinson (D4). Check it out at ACEOA.org. We are always looking for interesting information and articles to put on the website.
Elections will be held in August. So start choosing your candidates for Director (2 from each District), President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. Select candidates that you know will be dedicated to moving our Association forward. We now have a data base listing of our members and associates. Any changes and updates should be sent to Secretary-Treasurer Ericha Nix.
If you would like to submit articles or information for ACE Magazine, please send them to your District Director who will forward them to our editor, Warren Hinson at 604 Ravenwood Drive Apt.6, Selma, Alabama 36701. Be sure to include contact information in case she has any questions.
The deadline for membership dues was January 1, 2006, so make sure that your membership is current in order to receive the first issue of ACE Magazine.
I encourage all enforcement officers in all five of the divisions to become active in your Association. It is important to remember that if we are ever going to have a voice, we must be unified. There is strength in numbers. If I can ever be of any assistance to any of you or if I can answer any questions concerning our Association; please feel free to call me at home (334) 278-4478 or on my cell phone (334) 391-9113.
From Your Editor

I am honored to have the opportunity to assist you all in this marvelous endeavor where it seems the sky is the limit. We live in such a beautiful state from the mountains to the Gulf, Alabama truly does have it all. Sadly, those who are charged with protecting our state's resources are often the most overlooked and under appreciated due to lack of understanding. People do not understand the vital work that you do. The newsletters and the magazine are wonderful opportunities to provide a little education through words and through pictures.
I so appreciate the help received in preparing this newsletter, I would especially like to thank the Officers and Board of Directors and your indomitable President Rusty Morrow. He really is "The Friendly Game Warden."
Please send me your information so that we can share your accomplishments, innovations, the aspects that make your District unique, honors, births, graduations, promotions and any other stories you would like to share with your fellow officers. Also, I know that many of you have taken photos of this magnificent state and we would love to use them either in color or black and white. The publishers prefer hard copies of photos rather than using digital due to resolution. Please send any information to me, Warren Hinson, 604 Ravenwood Drive, Apt. 6, Selma, Alabama 3670l.
I look forward to working with all of you and I can be reached through SouthemLinc at 4238*232 or work at the Selma Police Department at (334) 874-1237 or (334) 8742123. They move me around a lot but I ought to be at one of those numbers. Also my home number is (334) 872-9233. Please feel free to contact me. The deadline for photos and information for the first magazine is July 3, 2006.
ACE Magazine

Your Officers and Board of Directors began looking into ways we could raise both money and awareness of our Association. Charles McCray introduced us to Paul Dinerman of Brent-Wyatt West, a publishing/ fundraising company. A partnership began and ACE Magazine was born. What a partnership it has turned out to be.
Paul Dinerman opened an Association office in Montgomery at 600 Interstate Park Drive, Suite 601, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Fundraising began in late February of 2006 and as expected things are going great. The company has telephone solicitors who contact Alabama businesses to offer a selection of advertising options. Their ads will appear in ACE Magazine. The Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association benefits from these efforts.
Paul Dinerman and Brent-Wyatt West have done everything asked of then by the Association and we look forward to a long partnership.
